CHA Medical Group was founded in 1960 with the opening of CHA Obstetrics & Gynecology Clinic in Seoul, Korea.
In 1984, Chairman Kwang-yul Cha established CHA Gangnam Medical Center, which was Korea's first specialized hospital.
During the 1980s, CHA Gangnam Medical Center and CHA Fertility Center were pioneers in the field of fertility medicine,
which had not been developed in Korea. As CHA group's remarkable achievements were introduced
in Time Magazine and other U.S. publications, CHA Medical Group began to develop an international reputation
for its world-class fertility treatments and advances in reproductive medicine. During the 1990s,
CHA Medical Group was the first in Korea to export its fertility technology to the U.S., by establishing CHA-Columbia
Fertility Center at Columbia University in New York City.
CHA Medical Group founded CHA Bundang Medical Center in 1995 and in 1999,
CHA Gumi Medical Center and CHA University and School of Medicine.
It continued its expansion in the U.S. by
acquiring Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in 2004.
CHA group has also established a foundation for the development of blockbuster cell therapies
by forming a biomedicine research institute known as "CHA Biotech".
In 2010,
it opened the unprecedented Chaum Life Center in Gangnam, Seoul, which has been hailed as the model for the future of health care.
By establishing Total Cell Clinic TOKYO(TCC TOKYO) in Japan in 2014,
CHA Medical Group became the first Korean medical institution to penetrate medical circles in both the U.S. and Japan.
With the goal of becoming the leader in the field of biomedicine,
CHA group created the futuristic medical research institution
"CHA Bio Complex" for the development of new drugs and to facilitate cooperation among industrial,
academic and research circles worldwide. CHA Medical Group has established itself as a pioneer in the field of medicine through
innovative ideas and has continued to strengthen its status as a premiere global healthcare group.
